Today’s episode, titled “ Business Start-up Tips: From Conception to Launch” with Priya Harkare from Natural Philosophy

Priya Harkare is a naturalist best known for her natural skincare brand “Natural Philosophy” based in Melbourne.

A co-founder, believing in a holistic approach towards life. She is a certified skincare  formulator with a Diploma in Skincare Formulation from one of the best skin schools – “Formula Botanica, London”.

Living and expressing your true form is what inspires Priya to flourish on this nature-driven  path. Along with her skincare business Priya also has a Construction background with 12  years as an Architect and Estimator. Yes! both being 180 degrees apart, yet, both she loves  equally. Her Construction management journey has helped her achieve balance and structure in life and business.

She believes that an artist cannot be bound or restricted, living free is what uncovers new  realms. She approaches each project with focus and fresh energy and calls herself an artist creating new formulations. This has helped her explore skin science and all skin secrets  which descend from as ancient as Cleopatra’s age. She created a unique blend of these  ancient ayurvedic ingredients with modern plant-based ingredients two years ago, which  she now calls “Natural Philosophy”. The secret to her ongoing progress has always been her  honesty whether being customers, friends, or family.

Priya as a person is very focused and professional yet enjoys having a good laugh. Always  eager to make new connections and bring her vision of a skincare global brand to reality.  She operates from a home-based studio in western suburbs of Melbourne. Her brand has  also set foot in the door with stockists, markets, and online last year.

The key take away messages include:

  1. What is Natural Philosophy and how does it work?
  2. Why do you need to approach people for everything (stepping up and approaching people don’t just sit and wait for people to come to you)
  3. Step out of your comfort zone and talk to people.
  4. There is no right time to start a business. You just have to jump in. don’t wait for the right time to start a business at all.
  5. You should have a Business Plan
  6. Be honest in what you’re doing, “Be honest in what you’re doing is how your customers will believe in you. That’s how you build trust in them.”
  7. How is building connections important?
