Welcome back to the Simple Marketing Solutions Podcast. We’re thrilled to be back in your ears after a short hiatus. So let’s face it, the last few months have definitely thrown some curveballs our way.
As a health professional out there, there’s been changes within the industry, there’s been changes within the economy that have had direct impact on business. With industry shifts, we’ve seen, like I said, the economy woes, something that is a bit out of our control.
And I am not one to dwell on things that we cannot control but focus on the things that we can. However, when the economy is struggling, it can relate to fewer clients walking through the doors.
But it is also an opportunity for businesses such as yours to start looking at ways to reignite that fire with your current clients and get the clients that haven’t been in your door for a while coming back through some strategic marketing.
Referral rollercoaster. This is something that I’ve been hearing a lot about from my clients, that they’ve noticed a drop with primary health care providers. being less frequent with their referrals. And this, I feel, has come back to a point where those primary health care providers have been super busy.
And there have been so many new health care practitioners coming into the field within the allied health professional. And that means that the competition is tough, so it’s about looking at strategies that can help you to gear your business and place it back in front of those primary health care providers that you have used in the past as a referral network.
The other third thing that I’ve noticed that’s changed is the turnaround with telehealth. So remember the big push during Covid and the pandemic when telehealth became the thing? Now clients seem to be prioritizing in-person visits again, even though they’re busier than ever.
So it’s about listening to your clients and seeing what it is they really want, being able to provide your service in a way that works for them. If you’re one of those practitioners that are feeling the squeeze with your business, know that there are challenges.
However, it is an opportunity to be able to adapt and it’s those ones that are open to adapting that will continue to succeed and build strength with their business. It’s really about thinking of new ways, changing that strategic marketing mindset to weather those storms and to be able to grow your business.
Some of the things that keep coming up in my conversations with clients is that on top of what’s happening with the economy and those changes with the referrals from primary health care providers is that there is a lot more Available in terms of tech and with all the platforms for technology, telehealth, your client platforms, recording, all of that, it’s hard to keep up with all the changes and the latest advancements and stay competitive, right?
It feels like you’re taken off track from being patient focused into this world of tech and trying to just get your head around all of these new tools that practitioners are implementing and using in their clinics and it’s about assessing, well, okay, what is part of my growth strategy and how important is it for me to incorporate these types of tech tools?
Are they going to benefit or are they going to add more stress to the business? When the competition heats up, there’s a lot more that we need to deal with. Remember that, you know, there’s new practitioners coming out and qualifying every day, taking a piece of that pie and you, as your practice, it’s really important to take the time to consider the strategy and I keep using this word strategy because today the topic is about focusing on your strategy.
What is it that you’re going to do to start shaping your business growth now and into the future? What does your plan of adaptation to the market look like? Have you got a clear roadmap for this?
If you have spent the time understanding and doing the research with regards to your client base right now and what is working for them and what isn’t, then you’re able to take that information and start to really apply it on a bigger scale to the entire practice.
What does that strategy look like in terms of you finding new referral networks? Have you started to look at Other healthcare providers that you could join with and collaborate with, have you started to understand if your area where your clinic is has seen a huge influx of new clients that are of a different demographic, maybe they’re a different age group, maybe they’re younger or slightly older or with younger families.
If there’s been a shift in your locality, then it’s important that you understand those shifts and start looking at how you can start marketing to this changing audience. So it’s about shifting gears from being just that practitioner, seeing clients, to the CEO of your business and making decisions that are really strategic and looking at planning out a very clear roadmap for your business and for your marketing, instead of having that real scatter gun approach where it means that you try different things all the time, but that chopping and changing leads to less effectiveness when it comes to growth within your business.
So building a strategy, easier said than done. I know, I know that you’re probably sitting there shaking your head and thinking, Ameeta, I don’t have time. I don’t have time for all of that.
I don’t have time to sit down and work out a strategy. But I’m here to tell you that it will be worth its weight in gold. Having a solid strategy in place for your business will take out that feeling of overwhelm, will give you the opportunity to have a clear vision and roadmap that you can follow.
So you stop going after those shiny objects that keep coming up. And I know I’m also prone to wanting to try all those new fandangled things, but they don’t always work. And it means your energy is being diluted into other things that are not a priority.
